Ahaha, I hear you there. It's so much cheaper if you have the capabilities and tools to do the repair or modification yourself.

I do most things, myself. I can currently afford not to, but I do it, anyway, as I was raised frugally and I enjoy tinkering with mechanical and electrical things (and always have).

I do most things myself, but the computer stuff.

Same as several here, do most, or almost all my repairs myself. Tires and some computer/electronics I hire out to a shop. After working shops all my life then retiring, it's hard to take ole Silv and let someone else handle her. Something to be said about doing a repair job or regular maintenance myself and the satisfaction I feel when I'm finished and she running, nicely, and looking great

If I have the resources and time, I'll usually do it myself. It's good to have people to ask questions (like on here) if you get stumped over something. Saving money is a plus, but I value the experience and satisfaction I get when I fix something. At least on my stuff, if I do it, I know what I did. I don't trust too many other people to work on my vehicles. Never know when some people will take short cuts. Flat rate pay often causes mechanics to get in a rush... Not saying they are not good at what they do, but there's a lot of pressure trying to beat the clock on some jobs.

Between my husband and I we do most repairs ourselves. Most things we buy are in some state of needing repairs - can't afford to buy things that I want that run. LOL

I'm with CJ on this one. I at least do the basics. If it's more than that, if I can figure out what the problem is, I'll at least first see if I can do it myself.
