I am going to go with bad ground. perhaps you missed one on your search. What about the smaller wire on the negative battery cable that terminates to the core support? Then there are grounds from the firewall to the back of the heads. Usually when I have seen this, the secondary ground from the battery terminal to the core support is either broken or cruddy."It went together didn't it? Yours has the double positive post ...clean it good. Pulley on alt. can cause this if out of round..flat spot on belt.
Check connection at junction block on firewall. Had one do this was the positive post.
