    Holy batkeys batman!

I used the wife's 1999 Pontiac Sunfire keys (old car - wrecked 3 1/2 years ago) to accidentially open a 1999 Chevy Cavalier's door one day before I realized that I was in the wrong car! Same color and everything, I thought it was like one out of 25,000 chance to do that, guess I was wrong.

    This sort stinks actually!

This problem exists with all car manufacturers. Due to cost manufacturers will only make a set amount of keyed combinations.
If they had taken their investigating further they may have found they'd be able to start some GM cars also.
This is more of a problem with makes that use one key for locks and ignition. A friend of mine has a key that opens and starts my 99 Tacoma, and my key does the same on his 03 Tundra.

In a past life as a repoman I never found a car I couldn't get. There are shaved keys, trial sets, rocker keys, master keys and so many tricks of the trade that locks weren't much of an issue. Remember "The Club?" Hah! I can't believe those things actually were an infomercial item! What a joke.

Let's face it. Locks keep honest people honest. Tempered glass is just one good blow away from opening all the doors so if a crackhead....err thief wants it they will get it.

This article is gone, does anyone remember when they started to make it harder to do this?

You know have electronically keyed programs that make it more difficult, but not impossible.
just like garage doors and church microphone systems if you look hard enough you can find a way to mess with people. We used to park by a church and key our Cb's till it would mess the religious ceremony up. I have also opened garage doors from a vehicle with both a hardlined cb and a hand /battery powered Cb
