Default Blower Motor missing one speed

My 1996 Suburban k1500 blower motor works great on speeds 1,2 and 4. I replaced the console climate control switch assembly because the speed control switch was becoming intermittent. Speed three would still not work, so I replaced the resistor pack and noticed that one of the resistor coils looked overheated - blue. I was certain I had found the problem. I Hooked it all back up and still not speed three. I did not notice any burned wires and the connectors were not melted or burned looking. My Suburban has 255,000 miles on it, so I know it is going to have weird issues. Any ideas on what might be wrong?
