Default Ordered Pair of Reese Tow hooks. Anyone had any experience with these?

Hey everyone i recently removed my bull bar and don't really like the factory tow hooks on the truck so i ordered a pair of Reese tow hooks to go in the factory position in the front. They have a load rating of 10,000 pounds so hopefully will look and perform better than the stock ones. They are already painted black but i plan on adding a few coats of gloss black and few coats of clear coat before i install them. They usually are $13 a tow hook but made a bid on Ebay for $10.43 for a pair and will have them next week and yes they are brand new. If anyone has had these on there truck or other REESE product's for towing let me know if your happy with it. Thanks, Jake

They look pretty beefy, I would think they would be more than adequate for your needs.

Yeah i just didn't feel like over paying for the oem tow hooks online and thru the dealer they are a good bit more than these. The last pair of factory hooks on this truck tried pulling a buddy out and bent the tow hooks and were all dented and paint chipping off so i trashed them. I think these should hold up pretty and everything though. I need to buy me a tow hook and tow hook strap for the back bumper when i get my new tires on and go out by the lake at my buddy's lake house and tear it up some will come in good need especially when everyone will be drinking and people seem to get stuck easier when they are a bit under the influence lol haha.

Well that's good to know that i bought some pretty good tow hooks. They look better that the stock tow hooks to me but that's just my opinion. They have a 10,000 pound load capacity so there damn good. They are being over nighted here and have them by tomorrow and install them.

I will post pic's tomorrow when they arrive and put them on. They will most likely arrive in afternoon though.

What I have done many times in the rear is to use the pin for the receiver. I pullout the pin and put the loop from the strap into the hitch, put the pin back in making sure the pin goes through the loop and put the retaining pin back in. This may save you a few dollars. Than just throw the strap into the bed of the truck while you are out playing in the mud.

    nice idea.

Installed a Reese Class 3 hitch on my Ranger a couple of years ago. It was the biggest pain in the ass, but it has been a good addition. Thinking of putting one on the front of my Chevy in the near future.

Yeah it looks like it will go in with no problem because one side where you mount the tow hooks are more of an angle and the other side they are side by side so should be ok. I'm sure there is a big difference in the ford ranger and mine though along with you have a 05 now. The space want be a problem just if the holes line up ha. I also got longer bolts if the one's that come with them are too short or anything. I'm gonna mount them today but sometime next week will probably paint them gloss black and clear coat to make them match.

They will fit just fine i got them maybe 15 min ago. I want be able to use both bolts on each side but will be able to use 1. The bolts that came with them were too short so i just used the ones that helb my stock ones on. I'm thinking about painting them real quick and installing them tom. or later on.

Jake I would try hard to get two bolts into them. If you go to use them to pull a buddy outta a hole and have to jerk it to get em out you are putting a lot of stress on those hooks. The one bolt MAY be strong enough but that is a chance I personally would not want to take. If you have to buy a bolt or two to mount them I would use a grade 8 bolt.
