I started a blog post for a project of mine coming up which is to build a raised bed in the back of mine for camping. Mine is purely function over form. It is just a bonus that I like the look of it ;)

With mine being a long box, we used to camp in it all the time. We would load the quad in the back and then throw a queen size mattress in on its side beside the quad. When we got to where we were camping, we'd pull the quad out and drop the mattress flat in the middle of the box. It worked great - other than that was before I got the truck from my stepdad and the company that we bought the canopy from wired it wrong so the light didn't work.

I must have missed this thread before. I admit, I haven't been as active as I want to on here. I'll try to do better!

I guess I'm the official "Grandpa" of the group since I'm 34. I get a lot of use out of my top though, and can't imagine not having it. Besides being great for frequent camping trips, it keeps cargo (and my daughter's wheelchair) out of the weather and out of the hands of undesirables. I only wish GM would offer the half ton crew cab with a longer bed option...it's a little short for sleeping in, plus I keep a permanent air tank and my spare tire in there which take up a bit of room.

New Kayak. Going on a trip to WA next month, and will be hauling three of them up there. Now I just gotta figure out how, lol. I know I can fit two side by side laying upside down. I've got a couple of vertical racks but I haven't used them before.

Personally, I think the stereotype of "old" and "shell" is dwindling. These days, so many of them are being crafted to compliment the truck as a whole and not just be stuck on there. I pondered it for some time actually, but what it really came down to is loving the look of my truck and being able to more easily store a tonneau when I need to take it off. Of course, that could be my "old" speaking. I only just turned 32 though so I don't think I'm that old, lol.

    To Be Completed (Eventually):
6" BDS Suspension lift | KingShocks Front and Rear Coil Overs | 4.56 Gears | 35" A/Ts (TBD) | Cervinis 07-12 Silverado Ram Air Hood | Fab Fours Front Winch Bumper (CS07-H2051-1) | Fab Fours Full Size Rear Bumper (CS07-W1850-1) | RX-2 Series Main Grille (Black) | Line-x Bed and wheel wells | Skid Plates | Rizor Automated Tonneau Cover | Custom Bed Insert | RBP RX-3 Series Nerf Bars | Kenwood Excelon DNX9990HD | JL Audio Stealthbox (2x500RMS) | JL Audio HD 1200/1 Class D Mono Amp | JL Audio C5-653 Components (Front) | JL Audio C5-650 Components (Rear) | JL Audio Slash v2 300/4v2 Class A/B Amp

Well, I see something there that I wouldn't mind picking up off the side of the road!

Has anyone used a soft collapsible topper? I don't want one for daily use but occasionally I carry some large things that I would like to cover.
Sometimes the best part of my job is that my chair swivels.
