Thread: ABS light

I did u joints on my 2003 yukon xl a week ago. Drove it about 300 miles with no issue. I noticed a vibration today around 30 mph. So I jack the truck up, put it in gear and got it up to about 30mph. I did not see anything weird with the drive shaft, and the joints are not warm after a hard 60 mile drive. So, I get back into the truck, put my foot on the brake until the tires stop and put it in park. All of a sudden I noticed the Brake light and the abs light came on. I shut it down and restarted it. The brake light went off but the abs light is still on. any ideas?

Could be that while the back end was jacked up the low fluid sensor inside the master cylinder reservoir went off, as your fluids would have been pushed towards the front. If it's not completely full then I could see this happening. other than that....?? I am kind of at a loss. Nothing about what you've done sticks out to me as anything that would cause a brake malfunction.

My guess is that the truck recognized the speed differential between the front and rear wheels and turned on the warning light.Alan

I second the differential this time, though the vibration could be any number of things, from tires to a bad wheel bearing. to rear diff etc.. Hopefully it was just a fluke with the vibration.Mike
