I have enclosed a pic, showing (excuse my ignorance here please) the hole where the fluid appears to be dripping from. Should this hole have a plug? Should coolant even be in there?

    Truck is a 95 silverado 5.7l

any advice would be much appreciated, thanks.
I know that this is old.....but.....

That hole is supposed to be there without a plug in it.....

It is the drain hole for the transmission's torque converter / flywheel dust cover.....

B-T-W.....did you ever find out where the coolant was coming from?....

I should have posted this before now, but, the coolant loss problem went away by itself oddly. Was waiting in case it returned, but has been retaining coolant just fine (which is good as its 100 degrees here at the moment).

Thanks for the posts and advice guys.
