Arrow Newbie on the board with a transmission issue

Hi my brother and I bought a 1994 GMC Suburban 1500 4x4 on Saturday,We had talked with P.O. about any problems and we were told no problems. We drove 80 miles both around town and on the highway and all was well until it was like the transmission shifted out of gear, rpm went up,forward motion did not follow suit. The truck has 190000 miles on it,I checked trans fluid level which was high but clean-no burned smell. We let the truck sit for twenty min. or so restarted and tried the problem going in reverse,in drive it moved but with did so with quite a bit of slippage.Any idea's ???Thanks for your help...

I can't remember if that's a pre 4L60e transmission. Either way, your transmission is toast. It's a common problem in half ton GM rigs. They commonly last about 90,000 miles.

If the fluid is clean, I would check all conections on the transmission. Also, check the TV cable, it is on the TBI make sure it is very tight.
