6.5 kappas are a different design then the 4x6s. You can put the crossovers where ever you please.

he did say they were the 2-way 6.5" infinity kappas, so here is a picture of the 2-way infinity kappas...

unless he has something other than what he described im afraid he will have to mount this (external crossover) inside the door as well

i really think we just need the originator of this thread to be the one to tell us what his speakers look like, or we might all continue to see different pictures lol

This is the exact model i got Infinity KAPPA 652.9I 6.5" 6.75" 225W 2 Way Car Audio Speakers 6-1/2

They come with cross overs in the 6.5 model but not the 6.75, i guess, might be wrong. What is the purpose of a cross over any way?

Ok. Saw the pic and it matches what reggie is talking about. As lame as it is, you have no choice but to mount the hard wired crossovers in the door. You could cut the speaker wire and mount them in the cab and run a length of wire into the door and solder to where you cut but that will cause a longer install time.

Crossovers are designed to allow the woofer and tweeter to share a common input power but allows them to separately replicate sounds on different frequency levels. Tweeters are your highs while the 6.5" woofer is your mid. A crossover is basically a frequency filter. The reason yours is designed the way it is is because your tweeter is sitting inside the cone of your woofer. On most component sets the woofer and tweeter are separate and the crossover is also separate. Yours looks to be a "high bred" sort of setup designed for an easy install for the user. The sound should be similar if not only slightly less accurate then that of a true component set.

There should be an input on your crossover. Your factory positive/negative wires go right into the input. Then slap your new speakers in. Hope this info wasn't too late. Sorry I've been super busy!!
