Thanks for the compliments! More stuff. Front winch is the original, holds 300 ft of 1/2 inch cable and was rated at 10,000 lbs. It's huge and is now hydraulic drive. I mounted a winch drive motor to the trans cross member. The dual lever valve and filter is under the seat. Rear winch is a 13,000 lb Tulsa and is a 1/3 the weight of the front winch. Dual levaers in the cab control the winches amd the PTO knob can bee seen on the dash to engage the hydro pump mounted to the Allison PTO. No ladders bars, torque rod as used on army trucks. Winch roller fairleads were hand made. I built steps into the cable guides. The column is a Flaming River Shorty tilt. Steering wheel I desigClick image for larger version.

Default "Stars and Stripes" the 42 G.I. Chevy.

Thanks guys. I love this site! More stuff. Front winch is original 10,000 lb rated Garwood rated and is huge, holds 300 ft of 1/2 inch cable. Garwood also made WW2 PT Boats. Rear is a 13,000 lb Tulsa. The dual lever hydro valve is under the seat. I mounted a winch drive motor to the trans cross member for the front winch. The hand made cable roller guides have steps built in. Torque rod as used on G.I. trucks uses factory parts accept the cross member mount. The WW2 Chevy used the same sheet metal and running gear as the CCKW, the WW2 GMC "Jimmy" duece and a half so the parts could be canabalized from one shot to hell to the other. Also as phot of the exact same truck restored, a 42 G7117. The only thing missing are the wooden bows and canves bed cover. Had fold down troop seats. They came in bomb loading models, open cab for loading and removing bombs from planes, fire trucks, wreckers, dumps, even a Van model used by the Signal Corps stuffed with radio gear.Original engine was an 235 ci, 83 hp overhead valve 6 with 4 speed crash box, 6:73 gears, 2 speed T Case. It was geared so lo that you could pull up to a wall in lo/lo on pavement, drop the clutch in 4 wheel drive and the tires would go chug, chug with the engine idling..

Very creative! I've never seen an engine used in that manner
