Taking axles out
Anyone tried to take their front driveshaft and cv axles out to gain mpg? Since its summer time I don't ever use my 4wd so I figured id ask to see if you saw any gains.

I'd expect gains from an activity like this to be negligible...

Don't do it! Your front hubs are held together by the CV joint. If you take them out, the front bearings will self destruct in a very short time.
Good Luck and God BlessRemember that if you're not part of the solution, then you're part of the problem!

I figured that would be the answer, but just a thought I had because I've heard it before.

The CV shaft basically positions the front hubs, running with out CV shafts in will cause the hubs to fall apart and self destruct.
Besides which the fuel savings would be very little, your still pushing those big tires and thats what does most of the mpg damage.

Have you guys personally seen any fuel mileage gains with any tunes? I know a lot of them say you will get 3 more mpg, but I'd like to have someone with a first hand experience say they have.
