    Default Is something missing?

I just bought an 08 Suburban LTZ. Checking under the hood, there is a space with what looks to be a battery tray located on the drivers side behind the grill. I see the battery is located on the opposite side, I was wondering what this space is for. Anly info?

Don't know about your year, but mine came with an optional nifty storage box. The space gets used for second batteries too.

On most models, if the diesel engine was an option, they put the extra battery tray in all vehicles of that model. The seconds battery tray is only used for the diesel engine, but you can of course put your own second battery and cabling in to make use of the tray.

Or get a nifty tool compartment.

    Default Thanks for the info

I appreciate the info. Figured it might be a tray for a second battery, but never considered the diesel possibility. Great idea to use as extra storage. Will have to give that some extra thought.

Yes it is an extra battery tray. My 11 Sierra has it also.

My 96 silverado had a compartment there. It was handy as heck. I stored all kinds of tools in there for whatever might be needed. My 2009 silverado has the space, but I haven't put a compartment there only because I'd like to add a second batter sometime later. That's what it's for though, yes, the second battery. If you don't need that though, get a tool compartment and put some basic tools in there. You'll probably never think of it again until something happens when you're on the road and you open the hood and remember.
