Good call in my opinion. I've seen head units go on sale on crutchfield and amazon for 50% off on a couple of occasions. I know crutchfield also has no sales tax and free shipping. The no sales tax automatically made it 10% cheaper than if I'd found the same price at a place in WA. I'm glad you posted on here before dropping $1800 on the Alpine.

The install card is a good idea from crutchfield, it's pretty accurate on price too. We would charge roughly between 150-250 on a double din navi unit w/blue tooth and iPod interface. 250 is even pretty steep but in some cars the install is just flat ass lame! Chevys should always be a little cheaper though, despite having pretty expensive interface harnesses, our trucks are fairly easy to work on when it comes to audio.

All in all, smart call for sure on just ordering a second sub and waitin for a sweet deck deal to come along!

That $750 labor number, regardless of the Canadian currency difference, seems very high. I would try to find a couple other places that can do the work, see what they charge. If possible, see if they have a binder with photos of other work they have done.
