Go with the 383. It's been proven thousands of times over, and there's a million upgrade options for it. Plus it's a lot easier to make it work with your setup.

If your really gonna romp on it, you might want to think about just upgrading to a stronger rearend. The 10 bolt doesn't like alot of power under a heavy vehicle. When GM installed the 6.5L TD in the 90s Blazers they detuned it back to 380lb ft in hopes of keeping the rear 10 bolt alive. Many owners swapped the 10 bolt for the semi floating 14 bolt after destroying them even with normal use. Also, keep in mind, 6.0L (VortecMax) half ton trucks came with a semi floating 14 bolt rearend. I guess GM learned their lesson.

I'm not really planning on romping on it but considering it's going to see plenty of time in the rain and snow, the one wheel wonder will be asking to lose traction.

Chris, the aftermarket for LS-based motors is just as expansive these days.

I'll hold off on deciding till I find out if I get this team lead position or not but I'm definitely leaning towards the 6.0L. On a side note, I did find out that as far as emissions tests goes, they'll just handle it by the year of the motor. Fine by me.
