I didnt know the stepper motor problem went back to 1998. They are easy to replace and you can find the 5 motor kits on ebay for cheap. I think i paid 40 bux for mine when i did my 03 cluster. It came with all 5 motors.

This is a great time to replace the cluster back lights with LEDs too...

Im just assuming that some of my motors went bad. Mine look differrent than the ones on ebay for the '03 & up problem. My motors are small metal cased ones with 4 metal pins sticking out of the back. No soldering is required to change them.....the pins push into soldered on recevier "boxes"

I have never taken one of the 95-99 clusters apart, so i dont know what parts are inside. The ones in my 03 were definitely not solderless. One suggestion i would make is to replace all of them while you are in there so you don't need to go back in later.

That's what I wanted to do but I can't find these motors!
