Google Helpouts just rolled-out by Google. Have you seen these?
Google Had Just Rolled Out A GOOGLE HELPOUTS?
So when I heard that Google was going to start something called "Google Helpouts", which is like a pay-for-service use of it's Google Hangouts ... I was thinking I'd see it all. How can that be a good idea? It's like Fiverr and odesk and Chat Roulette all rolled into one big service?
Then I went to the Home Depot Helpouts ... and I was pretty impressed actually. Granted, it was the first and only Helpout that I have tried thus far, mostly because it's free. But, I was able to chat with someone named Mike (who said he was a team of six for) to talk about my flooring project and getting better transitions between my engineered hardwood floors and the carpet and tile. He answered my questions, gave me some input, and all is great.
Not only that, he actually gave me advice that didn't necessarily include me buying more stuff from Home Depot! He said that he noticed that I had left-over wood and that maybe I could use that as the base for new transitions and get some Gorilla glue to hold it all down.

One of the strongest parts of the internet is also one of the greatest challenges that we face. The web gives everyone a voice, but sometimes when there are 30 voices all saying different things, and on other sites that leads to flame-wars and more (which we kill quickly on GMTruckClub.com) ... I can see how someone would want to pay someone for some quick q&a help on something that's beyond basic.
Good job Google, looks like you got this one right! I can see this as very helpful for car repair, computer problems, lawn and garden questions, etc.
Photos: I asked "Mike" if I could share these photos, he asked that I not include his photo, so I've added a smiley over his face and blurred out his name.
