Transfer case hole
I have an 07Crew 3500 duramax/allison with the push button 4X4. I noticed a little spot on the drive and now it has grown bigger and bigger. I thought it was a seal or pan gasket on the transmission but after taking a closer look I noticed a hole about the size of a pencil lead worn thru the transfer case. The truck has 363000 on it but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I noticed on ebay that there is an aftermarket rear half for the t-case but not sure how bad the rest of the internals are. The past two half ton silverados i have owned had blue t-case fluid. Is the dually supposed to also? A new GM t-case is around 1700, but i want to be sure that is the only problem i have. Any input would be helpful.

Go to Transfer case express and buy the rear half. Its the updated one that does not require the pump upgrade to take out the slack. I just got done replacing my rear casing on my 04 2500 4x4. The GM house wanted $300+ for a new rear casing plus you would still have to buy the update for the pump. I really feel sorry for the guys that are not mechanical inclined. I spent about $220 compared to 600+ for the gm to remove the casing +300+ for the casing + another 75+ for the up grade for the pump.
