Question 1992 GMC Jimmy - Receiver Hitch Removal

So I need to drop the gas tank to replace the fuel pump. But not only is there a plastic cover in the way but the receiver hitch also runs right down the middle of the tank. So I started taking it off. There are four nuts to remove under the rear bumper and then one behind each rear wheel.

The nuts at the back (under the bumper) are connected to bolts which were dropped through from above. I got all of the nuts off but one. The problem is that with the last one, the bolt is just turning and there is no way to get a wrench up and in there onto the bolt head to keep it from turning to take the nut off. Has anyone else run into this?

    yup! i have! lol
    on my 93, and my friend's 94
you need someone skinny to walk a wrench along the bumper, then down (inside) the frame to grab the bold head.
it does not take much effort to hold it still, but it will take patience.
ever time i flexed my forearm between the hitch and the frame i got stuck lol!!
so i had to relax and work carefully for (what felt like) quite a while
then, youll need a braker-bar for the frame to hitch bolts
Gas was $1.83 when Obama took office.....
