    Default 76" Rear-End Swap

    I have a 76 gmc sierra 35s 9in total lift and a beast under the hood. my ring and pinion gears just recently got chewed up and spit out of the housing. im looking to replace the whole rearend should i stick with the 3.73 half ton or upgrade to a 3/4. Not planning on taking it mudding just want it to look pretty and use to haul lumber and such

    Good looking truck..what made it spit all out? 1/2 would suffice if just hauling. What rear do you have now?

    had a 3/4 ton just like it my 14 bolt rear end was bullet proof if you do change it to eight lug all you have to do to the front is change the rotors its all the same spindels as the half ton

    I'd recommend swapping for a 14 bolt and do the spindle change, at the very least you need to change out those 3.73 gears, thats more than likely why you chewed up this set.
    3.73's and 35" tires dont mix well your putting a lot of torque on the ring and pinion with those gears.

    X2 ^ some lower gears would give you back some get up and go.

    If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger cheater bar.
