1989 Suburban 4x4 brake backing plate
Trying to replace the drivers side brake backing plate for my 89 Suburban 1500 4x4. I've spent the past week searching the U.S., and I can't find one. Can I use a brake backing plate from a 2wd? How about from a 90 or newer? I've got mixed answers from the "experts". Original part # is 14055279. Thanks for the help.

Try using that part number at the ACDelco parts site and then click on the models that it is used on. http://parts-catalog.acdelco.com/cat...tock_check.php . I looked and it list nothing newer than the 89 but goes back to 84. You might also try Dorman replacement parts

Just hit the junkyards. Any square-body 4x4 Blazer, Suburban or pickup will do.

My experience with the junk yard was dissapointing, unfortunately , everything I needed was also 10 to 12 years old and in poor shape (axles) and all the dust sheilds were clapped out too. It is an awful lot of work to get to the sheild only to find it is no good. Keep looking!
