1993 Chevy Throttle Body Injection Unit Overhaul
I am currently in the process of overhauling a TBI unit for my '93 Chevy. It is gummed up rather badly. I have tried using throttle body cleaner and a tooth brush to clean it, but I am not satisfied with the results. Anyone have an idea or method that will work better? I plan on having the injectors cleaned and tested as well. I was wondering if the main body could be given a "bath"? Thanks.

A lot of throttle body (and brake) cleaners use acetone, not a big fan.
The build-up inside a TB is from petroleum by-products (hydrocarbons), usually the best thing to clean petroleum by-products is a solvent made from petroleum by-products, something like Varsol.
After cleaning with the Varsol, the acetone based cleaner will finish the job and remove any Varsol residue.
