That is a great idea, any advise on what rubber to use?

Enkeiavalanche, I will have to depend on others for the technical aspects of sound systems. I was just going on the "no replacement for displacement idea" if 6 1/2 is fun, 8" will be a blast. Is there any powered compact sub setup that is inexpensive that you would recommend? I don't want to give up a lot of real estate for the project, but would like a little bit more. zigger215 any advise on the rubber that I should use? If I am taking up space on this thread, please tell me, that is not my intention.

No space at all man, this is exactly what the op intended I bet. Rubber, you want to use the type of rubber trim that you would outline a four wheeler or snowmobile windshield with but make sure it is a little bigger (not thicker but just a little longer down onto the sheet metal). Make sense?
As far as your displacement comment; what exactly are you looking to gain? I've been professionally installing and recreational competing for the last 8 years, I'm a student of acoustics and mobile electronics. Enkie has a lot of experience in the industry as well, more so then me really.
