    Default 2002 Chevy Z71 tranny problems in tow

    I have a 2002 Chevy Z71 it has 6' lift 35' tires and it drives fine shifts good until i put it in tow it wants to shift hard all 4 gears but when take it out of tow it shifts normal not sure whats wrong.

    Nothing. That is what it is supposed to do. Hard shifts are better for an automatic transmission than smooth shifts because in order to shift smoothly, the tranny actually does controlled slipping during gear changes. To do this under load will cause excessive wear and heat in the transmission.
