have a 5.7L vortec engine , need to find year it was made
I currently purchased a 1999 Silverado , the original engine was pulled and a 5.7 was installed . As I did buy this from a dealer and he had no idea what year the engine was as well . how do I go about finding out what year this engine was made? I am thinking that there are markings on the block I need to know where to find them . any and all help will be highly appreciated .

I was under the impression that these are VIN stamped. Just find the VIN and use a regular VIN decoder. The Real, Original Tachyon.
