    Default Rough Idle/Cutting Out

    Hey All,

    I have a 2003 Silverado, 1500 4.8L 4WD.

For the last couple days, my truck has been idling rough or cutting out. Its really noticeable when I'm stopped at a red light, etc. Its hard to tell but I think its doing it while I'm driving. When I'm stopped I feel like its going to stall. Something else odd, There is a strange smell, either from the engine compartment or exhaust. Its hard to describe, almost a hot smell.

CEL isn't on and I haven't made any changes lately.

    Any help is appreciated!

First thing to do is pull the air tube from the front of the throttle body, spray some carb and choke cleaner onto a rag and clean out the throttle plate really well. If that doesn't work, maybe look at the IAC valve.
