    Default Installing a muffler

In a couple of weeks I will be swapping out my old, stock muffler for a new Flowmaster Super 50. My dad will be helping me and we will be doing the work in his shop. We have all the tools we'll need, including a welder. My question is, is there anything specific I should know before we do this or is installing a new muffler as simple as cutting out the old one and welding the new on in place? Other than the muffler itself, are there any other parts I will need: adapters, brackets, anything like that? Thanks!

Anyone have a confirmation of how big the stock pipes are on a 2001 Silverado? I got under there to measure before I ordered my muffler and couldn't get a good measure. Sometimes my tape said 2.5" and when I would measure again it would be 3". I couldn't get a good vantage point. Amazon insisted that my pipes were 3" and kept saying the 2.5" wouldn't fit. I ordered the 3" and when it got here, the 3" openings sure seem a bit large...

If it is too large, a smart man invented adapters for the size differences; if any

If at first you don't succeed, get a bigger cheater bar.
