Default new Tahoe Owner has question - 2005-

Well just purchased a 2005 LS Tahoe 4x4, 5.3 Air Ride, 4.10 limited slip all wheel drive with 43,000 miles. I have never owned a 5.3 or this new of a SUV. Can you tell me somethings to watch out for or were to get a good repair manual.

The truck is fully loaded power everything, DVD player, 6 CD changer, blah blah blah....

Hows the tranny's and transfer cases? Normal surface intervals of 60K?

Can someone let me know the fluid thats required for the Tahoe:
- Coolant
- Transfer Case
- Tranny
- Front and Rear Diff

I am assuming this would be all in the owners manual , but for somereason no owners manual came with the truck !

ADDING PHOTOS 11/9/09 -

Thanks
Paid enough for it and dont want to screw it up !

Take good care of your Chevy and your Chevy will take good care of you.

You can use:

Transmission - Any ATF that meets the Requirments for ATF for that year. Most universals out right now would be great for that

Diffs - 75/90 gear lubes

Transfer case - ATF

Coolant - It woudl depend on whats in their now. THe previous owner could have changed it already and there are different types. do some research and find out what you have.

Thans for the help.

I was hoping someone could point out to me what the type of ATF this year uses and coolant. Again I have no owners manual with the truck that I can referance. I also just dont want to assume the fluid in the truck from the other owner is correct.

I wouldnt worry about the fluids, they are designed to go 100,000mi. Unless you have break down in one of those areas that would require draining to fix than dont worry about them. For most of the fluids you can look under the hood near the latch on top of the grill, there is a diagram of the serpentine belt, spark plug gapping, rad. fluid and many other things you would need so that its easier to find.

I can tell you that Amsoil's universal ATF will work in your truck. It is compliant with Many auto transmissions over a broad manufacturer date range.

In another post I think remist17 said it had the autotrack and if so I think the transfer case would require GMs autotrack fluid and not ATF. and the coolant is probably dexcool
