After searching on some other forums for mod ideas, I came across one that seems relatively simple...just double checking before I go into it. One guy said that he put factory high beam bulbs in his fog lights for extra light. Has anyone tried this or will it even work for sure? I do not want electrical problems!

I know which article you are talking about, as I saw the exact same thing the other day. I would say that is a hit or miss thing, the main concern would be wattage? I don't know anything about the NNBS trucks, but most high beam bulbs for the newer trucks are 60 watts. If the fog light bulbs are rated at that or higher than you would be fine, BUT if the fog lights are only rated at say 50 watts even though it's not that much difference you are still taking a chance. I thought on the NNBS trucks the fog lights have the 5202 bulb, so how did he get a different base bulb to fit unless he changed the base. Another thing you have to worry about is heat, that is a small housing which happens to be plastic and I have seen them melt before.
I had a set of H1 bulbs in both my high beams and low beams in my last truck, and I upgraded to a high temperature socket and I also had to shave down the base to make it fit. They worked for as long as I had the truck with no problems, if there is a will there's a way! ![]()

Here's a link to the Avalanche forum page that I used... http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com...c,60928.0.html It's a really good write-up, plus there is a link for a PDF file too... Very easy to follow step-by-step...

Do you know of any instructions for 2007+, or specifically, 2009? Thanks!

2007/2008 FTDRL I've only done it on my '03 Avalanche, BJ's '05 Silverado, and my buddies '05 2500... I haven't gotten to work on anything newer, and I can't find anything on the Av site...

I did this mod today on my 2000 Silverado. I have the DRL's working with my high/lows, but I can't find a relay in the electrical center for the high/low beams. I only have one relay, HDLP, instead of one for HDLP-HI and one for HDLP-LO. Here is a pic of the diagram for my electrical center:
Any suggestions on how I can get the fogs, DRL's, and high beams at the same time? |

Have you checked the electrical center inside the truck...? maybe they are there... I'm not sure about the newer trucks...
