Need help .. please I have a 2009 silverado ltz with 20 inch tires ,, want to go to a better more aggressive tire .. now tire shops are sayin the sport suspension that came on my truck is weak compared to the z71 pkg. now wondering to install a leveling kit and go with bigger tires and a new leaf spring in the back for towing a trailer .. or go with the Bilsteing coils in the front for more handling with the leaf in the back..would like to raise the truck up and put better tires on .. what is the answer .. thanks . thinking on something like bfg 's all terrain

If you want to put bigger tires on your going to have to do a leveling kit or lift. Get more than one opinion, i had alot of shop guys tell me i couldn't do 33's with a 2 inch leveling kit but i did. Do some research and make calls.

I would go with leveling kit and a small jump in tire size, if you play off road room in the wheel well is a good idea. Dont get add a leaf (short), get the long if needed. I would trailer something first to see how much it sags & go from there. Air bags work great for rear.

from my understanding, the suspension you have is the same as I have. I have an 08 LTZ 4x4 with stock 20's, has the z60 suspension as opposed to the z85 (standard), then there is the z71 suspension. From my understanding the only difference is the z60 suspension has larger sway bars and is stiffer. My 08 has the hd tow package on it, so I am pretty sure it is plenty tough and capable of handling larger tires. The suspension you have is what chevy put on the SS trucks when they were made.

I was considering swapping the fronts with the bilstein leveling coilovers. They give you the option of raising the front by 1.75". Trying to get some reviews on them. No one seems to know how they ride compared to the factory setup.

the Z71 package uses rancho brand components. Personally I am not a huge fan of rancho and typically any bilstein product is leaps and bounds better than rancho.

For now I am going to stick with the stock setup, has worked well for me so far on and off road. Bought the truck new about 3 months ago.

my z71 came with bilstein shocks not rancho all three z71s i have owned came with bilsteins

Thanks for the help moose hunt and deer hunt over now time to relax and figure out my suspension .... what is the recommended levelizer kit to buy ?????? rough country or top gun ,, tuff country , pro comp , so many to choose from.. thanks
