Hey all, i have a quick question. I have the chance to buy an 03 chevy duramax and its in great condition but has a blown engine. What am i looking at if i was to tackle it myself, i dont know a ton about these trucks but i have friends that do. And if i wanted it rebuilt/replaced what kind of price am i looking at? Just looking for a general estimate. thanks

Well it all depends on what your paying for the truck the way it is.. how much are you paying? Also if it's blown depending on how bad you might be able to rebuild but if not you will be looking at 4-5 grand or maybe lil more for new motor.

Well overall that isn't too bad i might would try to talk them down some from 6 so the time you got the new motor and it running will only be between 10-11 grand you will have put into it which isn't bad. I know you could sell it for even more than that though man with new motor and everything if you decide to get rid of it. Overall i would say it would be worth the money because even though gas is up and diesel the prices on trucks really havent went down much for some reason. I guarantee a USED 2003 Duramax with a good bit over 100,000 miles would be 15,000 grand and depending what they have done to it over the years but a dealership will RAKE in the money off that Duramax used and make allot of profit.

Basically you could have Practically a Brand New truck Minus the body and save allot of money in the process. Also shocks and everything you could replace if needed and anything else that's not small petty stuff and you got you a nice ass truck. Do you have any pic's of it or could get any by any chance? I would love to get a deal like this and make it a project more than anything?:great:
