Folks, just paid the bill on the 07 Sierra SLT Z71 with 17776 miles and 745 hours for a new alternator. Battery icon showed up so I went to the dealer. they sais it needed new alternator and battery. I had them replace the alternator. Battery icon went out. now the engine icon is showing up?
    1. any chance on getting GM to pay for some of this?
    2. could the battery still be bad and need to be replaced?

    thanks

    Welcome to the club!!

I wouldn't take it back to the dealer for a check engine light, take it to autozone and they'll check it for free.

I would talk to the service manager at your dealership. With such few miles this is something that should definitely be taken care of by GM for
customer enthusiasm. An alternator should not go bad that soon. If the service manager will not do a goodwill warranty reimbursement for the alternator then call Gm Customer Assistance which the number is in the owners manual. As far as the check engine light being on now. Take it back to the dealer and have them check it out. If your perception was that it is on now because of the previous concern we would recheck our work and scan it for free. Once it is determined whether or not it is related then you can go from there. GM is doing much more now to
    improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.
