    Was a 396 big block a factory option in a 1992 Chevy 2wd Shortbed?

No. Far as I know, it was only available in the 67-69 Camaro.

Don't forget the Chevelle SS 396, El Camino SS 396, Nova SS 396, Caprice SS 396, etc., but no, they were not available in 92.

    I think in a 92 1/2 ton you could get a 4.3 v-6, 5.0 v-8, 5.7 v-8 and in the 454SS truck you could get the 454 (7.4) v-8

    Here's the 454ss

I want a 454ss bad... can't afford it right now so I'll have to make do, I've got it narrowed down to 3 options so far, the 92 with the 396ci that inspired this post, a 72 2wd longbed with a 454ci, and a 66 stepside shortbed 2wd with a 383ci stroker.. all of em need a little work but not too bad.
