1996 chevy 4x4, the truck cranks and runs fine until i reach 50 mph, then it spits and sputters and wont go any faster, i shut the truck off and wait a few seconds and crank it back up and it runs fine until i get to 50 mph. the truck also takes a long time to shift between gears, to my knowledge there is not a shift kit installed in the truck. Any ideas?

When was the time you changed the fuel filter?

Yep, I agree, a clogged fuel filter will make your truck fall flat on top end and spitter and sputter.
