I am looking at a 1999 GMC K2500 Suburban. I can hear a buzzing noise coming from the back up around the gas tank. I am guessing it is the fuel pump. Should a fuel pump make that mach noise when I stand by the rear of the Suburban?

Doing some reading on this forum I found the answer to my question.

Was it the compressor for the air suspension?

I did not know it had air suspension. From what I have read here the noise is from the fuel pump.

Its the fuel pump. Its normal to hear it, but sometimes if the fuel filter needs to be changed it will get louder as the pump is working harder to pump the fuel through the fuel dirty filter.
