2000-2012 5.3L and newer Oil leak and lifter problems

I am posting this because have seen a number of people talk about the oil leak problems and lifter problems (sounds like a knocking noise) in the 5.3L going all the way back to when it first came out (1999/2000).

Since I am on the tail end of this, my warranty is gone and GM basically does not care about me anymore unless I buy a new truck.

For people that are still under warranty, are you having any success in getting these problems resolved? While these issues are minor compared to what I am hearing happens with Fords and Dodges, I am particularly disappointed in the lack of a statement from GM on these problems because the engine is the last thing most truck owners want to replace and rebuild over oil leaks and noisy, stuck lifters.

It will influence my decision when replacing this truck. Do I stay with GM or leave. I know I am not alone in this.
