2001 Silverado 4 wheel drive problems!

i have a 2001 chevy silverado 1/2 ton. Recently the 4 wheel drive quit working. The 4 wheel drive dash lights still light up but there is no power to the front tires. The shaft from the transfer case to the front end is turning and the cv joints are turning. Is there something that may have snapped or broke in one of the front wheel assemblies. Also does the shaft coming from the transfer case to the front end spin at all times or just when in fourwheel drive?

    Thanks, Sno_Racer_Xtreme

Which transfer case? Do you have autotrac, or do you have a 4auto setting or do you have a standard part time system? The clutches in the autotrac t-case will cause the front driveshaft to spin, even in 2H.

How are you determining that no power is getting to the front wheels? One common error I see people make is not accounting for the fact that the front diff is open, meaning it only needs one wheel to spin for it to seem like no power is going forward.

Jack up one front wheel. With the t-case in 2H, you should be able to spin that wheel. In 4H, you shouldn't. If you can spin the wheel in 4H, then look to make sure the actuator on the front diff is engaging the differential.
