2003 LED project - headlight selector?

I just went through and upgraded all the lights in my instrument cluster to blue LED's. Now it's time to move on to some of the other lights in the cabin, in particular right now, headlight selector.

I dissembled the switch and my conclusion is to remove the clear, what I'm calling the "diffuser" or "light distributor". From what I can tell this will be the only way to evenly spread the light to the correct locations. Only because it looks to have a yellow/amber tint where the original light met with the "diffuser".

Anyone have any experience with this?
