2003 Suburban - There is a rusty circular plate behind my back brakes? What is it?

    It appears to protect the rotor.

    keeps mud, ect off of the rotor.. most of them rust out after awhile in the states that use salt in the winter.

    If it is in poor shape you should replace it when you do a brake service.

    the easiest way to replace them is to buy the 2 piece set from dorman. If you you want to use a one piece unit, you will have ot pull the axle shafts

    Found the two pieces at Oreillys (dorman). Much easier. Thanks guys or ladys.

    Nice trucks. Don't understand the details but assume.
