2006 Silverado with failed speedo and tach

I searched the past threads and can't seem to find anything that quite fits my problem. And it seems that most of the GM trucks with this problem require a gauge cluster replacement (an expense I'd like to avoid)

The short version of the problem is about a month ago the speedometer, tach and odometer just quit working. The rest of the gauges seem to be working fine. The engine hours counter in the digital display is working (accumulating) but as I said the odometer and trip meter are frozen.

Does anyone know if there is a simple (read inexpensive) solution?

check your fuse box and find what fuse is connected to them, and see if its blown, if it is just replace it and go. but if not... idk man good luck, hope this helps and is an easy fix!

I have checked all of the fuses and while I do think it's an electrical issue, that was a dead end.

Thanks for the lead on the speedo guy Demon Speeding - I'll shoot him an e-mail.
