i test drove a 2007 silverado 2500HD 6.0 classic 4x4 and noticed when i accelerated the engine would make a ticking sound and would quit as soon as i let off. im just curious to see if its something common that motor will do or if its a problem...

    THanks for the help!

Was the engine cold? Some of the engines had piston "slap" until the engine warmed up and then it would go away. Or did it sound like lifter clicking?

Sometimes a exhaust leak will sound like a ticking also. But he is right about the piston slap

My 01 Yukon had the piston tick noise, it went away after about 5 minutes, never got any worse.

07 Trailblazer SS with piston slap

I recently purchased an 07 Trailblazer SS with definite piston slap and have read that many 6.0 spin out the number 6. Piston slap is know in earlier model GM engines (99 thru 02). Anyone else with 2003 and up piston slap
