2010 Silverado 2WD 5.3L with 25k miles, any issues I need to be aware of?

    Before I buy?

I heard about AFM issues. Are they a headache to deal or live with?

    Thanks.

AFM seems to be a love it or hate it system, I drive mine daily and have no problems with it, but I do drive conservatively.
If you drive more aggressively you either wont like the throttle response or wont be happy that AFM's not saving as much fuel as you expect it to.
For the most part I dont think it improves the fuel mileage as much as GM would have you believe but it does net you a few more miles per gallon on long flat trips.

    Thank you.

I will probably take it home for a day and drive it around with and without pulling a loaded 6x10 trailer and see how the AFM responds. Anything else to be aware of?

The transmission will take a little getting used to, it's designed to maximize economy too so it does less engine braking than you'll be used to, if you've ever driven a Diesel engine'd truck without an engine brake it's easiest to compare it to that, engine braking is slow to come on and not as strong as you may be used to.
Also low speed throttle change, say crossing a speed bump comes on slightly delayed and with a little thump.
All normal but takes some getting used to.
These issues may be different once you attach a trailer and go into haul mode, I havnt towed with mine yet.
One feature that also might be different than your used to is the manual mode on the transmission, you tap up or down and if it's in the right RPM and speed range it'll go into the next gear, I suspect this might be a great feature if your on a road where you dont want the truck upshifting into higher gears and want the rpms a little higher but other than that I'm normally a lazy driver and let the truck do it's thing.
You didnt say which tires this truck has, 20's are an option, but my personal opinion is with 20's their normally not gearsed right so it screws up mileage and exagerates some of the "quirks" already present. I had 20's on and went back to 17's since the truck seemed to do better for my needs with them even after having the computer adjusted for them, just my take though, I can live without the added style points if the truck works better.

I passed up on this truck. I am now looking at a 2011 with 11k miles. Any changes in this particular year model?
What do I need to watch out during the inspection and test drive? Thanks.

Really the same truck, no changes to speak of.

No body mentioned that some cruise with manual mode selected to the "5" position when driving around town. This prevents the AFM coming on and some says improves drive ability in town. On the highway my AFM is seamless and I have achieved 20mpg on many highway trips.

I also tow a 28 foot 5,500 pound travel trailer with my 5.3-Cre Cab (2011). I won't say I don't know it's back there, but for a 1/2 ton it does an adequate job with the transmission in tow haul mode.

Test drove it yesterday, I liked it on the highway, It stayed pretty much in V8 mode unless it's downhill and it goes V4, but I did not even feel it shifted between V8 and V4 at 65 - 80 mph. I should have test drove it in the city streets with stop and go traffic. I will get this truck.

Finally bought the truck. It's a 2011 Chevy 1500 LT 4WD with 11k miles only. Pearl white with black leather interior. Been searching for almost 8 months. I am glad I waited.
