2011 Silverado - Tacky frame coating?

I was under my 2011 Silverado crew cab installing my side steps, and noticed that when my sweaty arm touched the frame, my arm was turning black. I touched the frame, and it has a black soft coating that can be rubbed off fairly easily to expose bare metal. Is this stuff suppose to eventually harden? It seems to be holding up just fine, as long as nothing comes in contact with it. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Yes it takes some time for it to cure & harden (it's undercoating that you're seeing) Cure time depends a lot on temp & humidity.

I would recommend that you contact your local dealer regarding your concern. They are the best resource in terms of finding how long this would take to harden when taking your environment into account. Please keep me posted. Thank you.
