I'm getting a little bit nostalgic for my youth growing up in the northwest. I just saw a friend that I've not seen in about 15 years took his family to Pacific City, Oregon and that got me thinking about how we did a couple of vacations growing up at different spots in Oregon. However the most vivid memory was our trip to Florence, Oregon when we took a trip to the Sea Lion Caves. Not sure what sticks out the most about that, maybe just the calmness of the Pacific Ocean, maybe the saltwater smell and the cool temperatures, maybe it was being able to feed the sea lions themselves? I don't know, but it was good times and I'm thinking that I might want to take a road trip up there and visit the Northwest this summer at take maybe a 14-day driving trip up there, that would be a good spot to stop.

One of my favorites is Corrolla, NC. It isn't as much about the drive to get there as it is the drive once you arrive. The only way to get there is to drive on the beach. Great fishing, wild horses walking about, and oh did I mention driving in the sand!

Ive always enjoyed Corrolla spent many weekends down there when I was stationed in Norfolk. At one time they used to let you drive in from the Virginia side I understand that isnt allowed now unless your a resident of Corrolla.
I also enjoyed visiting Chincoteague and Assateague island in July to watch the horses swim the channel.

My favorite destinations are anywhere in the Rocky Mountains.
