Got a 2010 crew cab with 3.08 rear end. I know this is not a huge towing vehicle, but since most of driving(25,000plus a year is town or highway) I was not concerned with the purchase.

Anyways, I do tow a few times a year a 4,500lb boat and trailer, getting about 12-13 mpg at 65-70 mph, is that expected?

Anyone else have this configuration to compare?

You didn't provide tranny and engine info, so it's a little hard to compare.

I have 3.08's, a 6 speed tranny and a 5.3. The trailer is around 3500. I also have the tow/haul mode with a "M" (manual) gear position on the selector. I use M and keep the tranny in 5th gear most of the time, hills will get a downshift to 4th. Driving 65 to 70 see mileage of 17 to 18.

Sorry, i have the 5.3 with 6 speed tranny. I usually run it in the M5 as well, tow haul mode. I guess the weight it is a guess, but that should be close to 4500 pounds. Unloaded I get 22-23 highway, 15-17 in town, combined 17-19.

But trailering that boat, i never get anything higher than 14. You are seeing 16-18 trailering the 3500 pounds? How can there be that much difference, i don't barely even pedal play.

Terrain differences, possibly? Speed differences, possibly? I know I don't tow at 65-70mph...

Don't get anything like you get when I'm unloaded. My unloaded is 19 to 20. The wind resistance makes a lot of difference, my load is not any higher than the bed of the truck. That may be the reason.

Load in the truck may also be heavier, I would have 2, or 3, passengers and only a couple of pounds of gear.
