HI guys, rebuilding the tranny but I have a question. Everything rolls well with the back end of the rebuild, but as soon as I ad the retaining ring to the low and reverse clutch pack, nothing moves! Is this normal?

PS. this is the first time at rebuilding and automatic.

Also, I am having a huge amount of trouble in trying to get the rear shaft in deep enough to apply the snap ring to retain it. I need maybe another 5mm to push through, but the only way I can see that happening is to remove a friction plate or a steel from the clutch pack. as it is right now, they clutch pack height is perfect according to the GM Manual. Any help?
