anyone know what needs to be done to change a heatercore on a 87 silverado 1500.350 auto 4x4?thanks
Is that the old body style? Those are pretty straightforward. Just take your time and find all the little screws that hold the case together and it will come out fairly easily. The newer style is a bit more difficult. I'd advise you to get a Haynes manual for it to be sure. Maybe you can find the manual in the local library.
Good Luck and God Bless
You can likely get a Haynes manual on eBay.
Yes, heater cores are not hard to do, just take your time and don't force anything. Heater hoses meet the firewall in the engine compartment. There are two, and you have to remove those. Buy a couple of pinch clamps or hose pliers that lock to keep the water from coming out the hoses. In the interior you will need to have a lot of newspaper under the unit because when you finally get the core loose you likely have to change its position to remove it, and fluid may come out on the floor. Or you can shoot some compressed air through one of the ports on the firewall and force the coolant out the other port.
