88 Suburban doesnt want to go forward

Ok, so, I bought a 88 Suburban with a 350. When i bought it, it had problems going forward, ( felt like the brakes were stuck on, or it was stuck in 4wd, like the drivetrain was binding). When I gave it a good amount of gas, it goes forward, but doesnt want to, and sputters ( not engine sputter, driveline sputter). Now, i gave it a bunch of gas and i was able to drive it awhile, and the problem went away for a couple of days, and i had the whole truck inspected and they said it seemed good. Well, now it is doing it again. It will go in reverse just fine, and when i try to go forward, the back left wheel makes a lot of noise when i try to give it gas, and it will move, but it doesnt want to. Could it be stuck in 4wd, even though the shifter is in 2wd? Any advice would be helpful.
