i have a 93 k2500 sub its obd 1 with throttle bottle fuel inj and a 4le80 trans
the motor is tired and i would not mind going to a newer set up
if it is not too much work.
and i would really like to have obd2 over obd1.

will the dash from a 98 or 99 pickup fit into my sub?
the body style of the sub is the same form 93 - 99
but i dont know if the dash install is the same..

am i looking at way too much work to get a mutiport fuel injection motor in and wired to work with my tranny?? or is it just install the dash and the wireing harness to the new motor and old trans and off i go

i may buy an donor 97 98 99 pickup to do the swap..

    thanks for any info
(my sub body is next to prefect and i have good seats so i dont want to buy a new sub just to have obd2)

I've never done a swap like this but I see it all the time in magizines. Theres companies out there that make the wiring harness with the ecm's. I would goggle something like LS1 engine conversions or LS1 wiring harness and see what comes up.

the dash and all fits....but if i where you i would go diesel....easy swap and much better power for even better fuel milage ! about 2X as much if not better depending on set up of the diesel ! same money and you could also leave your old dash if you want !

I got a buddy with a diesel. He runs Biodiesel in it.

You could even update to a 2000+ dash and run the 5.3 over the vortec I believe. I saved a PDF on how to change from Vortec to 5.3. At least that swap is not as difficult as diesel (although that is what I would like).

IF you buy a 96 up GM truck to do the swap, you will have everything you need. The wiring harness and everything else is easly changed, and the vortec will bolt right in. The dash will as well, you will have to use the HVAC controls and guage cluster from the 96 up truck, als you will have to replace the Fuel pump wiring harness, and fuel pump, and PCM. In all reality plan for a weekend swaping over the wiring and dash. Then plan for a weekend installing the motor and tranny bits. It is completely feasable and what i would love to do with a 94 since i like the interior alot more, and the 255HP from the 98 up 350 (96-97 make 250)
