How is the timing set/djusted on the 99 7.4L 454's?
I'm pretty sure it is the same procedure as my '98 5.7. You hook up a medium to high end scanner (one that is capable of reading the cam retard parameter. this seems to be the hardest part of the procedure). Then adjust the distributor until cam retard is between -2 and +2 degrees.
anybody know if distributor cap on 1999 Chevy 7.4L is supposed to be able to rotate freely, have been having a hard time getting truck to start and noticed it was really loose?
Absoutely NO that will change the cam retard if the whole distributer rotates. See if the clamp down bolt is loose and have someone set the cam retard.
